The Tempurpedic® TEMPUR-Cloud is an economical option for those seeking the soft, form-fitting feel of the TEMPUR-Cloud Luxe but at a lower price. The TEMPUR-Cloud line represents the culmination of traditional and contemporary memory foam mattresses. Prior to the advent of TEMPUR-ES memory foam, consumers were forced to choose between the soft feel of an innerspring mattress or the supportive sensation delivered by memory foam. TEMPUR-ES delivers a unique combination of both, giving sleepers the medium-soft sensation of "sleeping on a cloud."
The Tempurpedic® TEMPUR-Cloud is the most modestly priced of the Cloud line, delivering superior comfort despite remaining simple in construction. This model features an 8" profile with an overall medium-soft feel that allows for deep penetration without compromising underlying support. Though technically considered an economy model, the TEMPUR-Cloud derives its unique ultra soft feel from the same TEMPUR-ES support layer embedded within the Cloud Supreme and Cloud Luxe. This model is a fabulous purchase for those seeking a plush, supportive, and well priced memory foam mattress from a big brand company.
The MemoryFoam.com Deluxe compares very favorably to the Tempur-Pedic Cloud mattress. Both use a lower density memory foam (3.5-4lb) to achieve a softer, more affordable sleep experience. The Deluxe is about 35% less than the Tempur-Pedic Cloud.
The Select Luxury 11-inch Memory Foam Mattress features a triple layer construction: 1.75" of 3lb foam, 1.75" of 2.5lb foam, and a medium-firm base that measures 7.5" tall. The base is made of urethane, however, raising concerns of durability, odor emission, and environmental impact. This model lacks the comfort-layer technology common among the competitors of its class, however, representing a significant downfall that is immediately apparent during use.
The Select Foam Luxuria 10" doesn't compare very favorably to the Tempur Cloud bed, due to the 5.3lb density foam used in the Luxuria 10" - it tends to be firmer than the 4lb density foam within the Cloud Bed. If you like the Cloud, do not buy this bed.
The secret to the medium-soft feel of the TEMPUR-Cloud lies in the pairing of the mattress's top and support layers. The soft TEMPUR-ES top layer receives support from a 7.2lb density TEMPUR-HD memory foam support layer, located directly below the surface. While the TEMPUR-ES layer compresses like a soft down pillow, the high density TEMPUR-HD support layer holds strong to provide form-fitting support.
The TEMPUR-Cloud is the most modestly priced of the Cloud line of memory foam mattresses. Though the "economy" model of the family, the mattress consists of the same basic materials as the higher end Cloud models. Those seeking a medium-soft sleep experience will see exquisite value in this mattress, as it is a lower priced model of nearly identical construction as higher end Tempurpedic® mattresses.
