The Tempurpedic RhapsodyBed is a luxurious, medium-firm memory foam mattress with a special 7.2lb density TEMPUR-HD memory foam layer. It is part of the HD Collection, and is specially formulated for individuals that need the extra pressure-relieving support only offered by HD memory foam. To put it bluntly: Tempur-Pedic hit a homerun with this model, and it has been one of the most popular models ever since it was released.
The Regalis-HD is an incredible bed that replicates the look and sleep experience of the Tempur-Pedic RhapsodyBed at only $1799 in a King. The key is the HD 8lb density memory foam they use. This layer is what gives both the Rhapsody and Regalis-HD the ability to relieve a tremendous amount of pressure. With a suede-sided cover that has a stretch Coolmax cover, this bed looks identical to the Rhapsody Bed. This bed has a 5.3lb density memory foam support layer. Select Foam uses an eco-friendly soy-based memory foam that tends to retain less heat. The Regalis-HD has a top HD layer that is denser than Tempurpedic's Rhapsody, although we did not find evidence that the Regalis-HD was superior. In fact, our tests shows the Regalis-HD performing at the same level as the Tempurpedic RhapsodyBed. At 40% less, this is a great buy.
The Rhapture-HD is one of the few beds using 8lb density memory foam. At 12" thick and with a suede-sided stretch top cover, it looks like the RhapsodyBed. Though there is a bit less memory foam in this bed than the Tempur-Pedic or Select Foam models, we still found that it does an incredible job relieving pressure. At $1699 in a King, this bed is reasonably priced. MemoryFoam.com has been around for a very long time, and while some of their beds tested lower, this particular bed rated very high.
The Tempurpedic@reg; Rhapsody offers a fresh blend of medium-firm support and style that most consumers love. The most economical of the Tempur-HD Collection, the Rhapsody features more memory foam cells per square inch than the original Tempur Collection while remaining relatively modest in price. Expect to pay more for this brand's HD technology without necessarily feeling the difference.
The Sertapedic bed delivers a well-crafted combination of innerspring, memory foam, and latex materials. Most noteworthy is the VertiCoil Premier™ Innerspring core of the mattress, a new technology that claims to have greater distribution of support across the surface of the mattress. The Sertapedic offers a unique feel in virtue of its equally unique construction. However, those looking for the uncompromised feel and support of a true memory foam mattress are likely to be disappointed. This model feels like an innerspring mattress first, and a memory foam mattress second.
At 12" high, the AmeriSleep Revere Bed™ exudes the promising allure of exceptional support and comfort. In the end, the Revere Bed™ is a cost-leader designed to offer a product at a low price that matches its overall quality. Most significant drawbacks include minimal-to-moderate memory foam support, periodic heat retention, and questionable durability. The price of this mattress is extraordinarily low, however, giving those who have never tried memory foam the opportunity to do so at a very low risk.
Customers get what they pay for with the Comfort Dreams Select-A-Firmness Mattress. Priced at only a few hundred dollars, expect the memory foam material of this mattress to be subpar at best. The mattress delivers a moderately comfortable sleep solution for those on a tight budget, however, and may be purchased through Overstock.com for only $1.99 in shipping charges.
We recommend this bed for people that sleep on their side, those with injuries or chronic pain, and people over 225 pounds. Side sleepers put all of their body's weight on a very small area (the hips and shoulders), and tend to benefit most from this bed. The cost is fairly high, so if you are looking for alternatives, make sure you only consider those with HD memory foam, as there are many copycats that look the same, but are not built the same. Keep in mind that this is a medium-firm mattress, so if you want the pressure relief, but require a plusher feel, read about the Tempurpedic Cloude Luxe.
